Atlantic Sturgeon Work
Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin
ICPRB advocates and supports the stocking of captive Atlantic sturgeon into the Potomac River. Sturgeon are currently being cultured in Maryland Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and GenOn Utilities facilities.
As explained by MD DNR Fisheries Restoration Manager, Brian Richardson, “The overarching aim of our restoration project is to culture a healthy, captive brood stock of genetically diverse sturgeon adults that will provide larvae and juvenile fish for restoration stocking”.
