Innovation and Access: Water Solutions for Underserved Communities

September 21 @ 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

What can we do to make sure water resources reach the people in America who need the most help? There are many water challenges facing communities of all sizes across the country: aging infrastructure, lead service lines, PFAS, drought and flooding are just a few of the often-discussed problems. But there are additional issues that have an outsized impact on smaller water systems and historically underserved communities. Smaller systems and communities that have never had municipal access to water grapple with hurdles like lack of personnel and trained employees, contamination, geographical isolation, access to technology and resources, and more.

This event will bring together experts and thought leaders from various disciplines and backgrounds to discuss policy changes, technical assistance, and innovative technology and engineering solutions to help communities solve water challenges, especially those challenges felt most in historically underserved areas. Speakers including Mae Wu, Deputy Assistant Administrator, EPA Office of Water; Edna Primrose, Board Director, DigDeep; Paula Conolly, Director of Local Engagement and Senior Advisor for Distributed Infrastructure, US Water Alliance; Maranda Saling, Government Affairs and Policy Manager, RCAP; Trey Sherard, Anacostia Riverkeeper, Anacostia Riverkeepers; and Ellie Carley, Senior Program Coordinator, Engineers Without Borders, will discuss on how we can achieve better outcomes for these communities and share case studies of solutions that are being implemented across the country now.

Register below for the event on Thursday, September 21 from 3:30 – 5:00 PM. We hope you’ll join us for a productive and interactive discussion about the  unique water challenges facing smaller, rural, and historically underserved areas and solutions to help these communities thrive.
