US Fish and Wildlife Partners for Fish and Wildlife Program helps accomplish this to conserve, protect, and enhance fish and wildlife and their habitats by offering technical and financial assistance to private (non-federal) landowners to voluntarily restore wetlands and other fish and wildlife habitats on their land. The program emphasizes the reestablishment of native vegetation and ecological communities for the benefit of fish and wildlife in concert with the needs and desires of private landowners.

Potomac River Fisheries Commission regulates the fisheries of the main stem of the tidal Potomac River from the Maryland/Washington D.C. boundary line (near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge), to the mouth of the river at Point Lookout, MD and Smith Point, VA. The PRFC regulates all recreational and commercial fishing, crabbing, oystering and clamming in the main stem tidal Potomac River, and issues licenses for those activities.

Maryland's Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Services provides information for both the commercial and recreational fishermen on fishing and crabbing licenses and regulations, water conditions, boat ramps, and management of fisheries.

Maryland's Department of Natural Resources Wildlife and Heritage Services ensures the long term conservation of the full array of native ecosystems, natural communities and species (both animals and plants) that comprise the biological integrity of Maryland. A few of its many programs include Wild Acres, Project Wild, Envirothon, Wetland Restoration, and Deer Management.

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission provides fishing and boating opportunities through the protection and management of aquatic resources.

The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries works to manage Virginia's wildlife and inland fish to maintain optimum populations of all species to serve the needs of the Commonwealth; to provide opportunity for all to enjoy wildlife, inland fish, boating and related outdoor recreation; to promote safety for persons and property in connection with boating, hunting and fishing.

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation Natural Heritage Program represents a comprehensive effort to inventory and preserve the animal, plant and natural community resources of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Program areas include Natural Areas Stewardship, Natural Areas Inventory, Natural Areas Protection, and Information Management.

The West Virginia Department of Natural Resources Fishing Webpage provides up-to-date fish stocking information, fish consumption advisories as well as information on regulations, licenses, favorite fishing spots, and float trips.

Chesapeake Wildlife Heritage (CWH) is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to creating, restoring, and protecting wildlife habitat, and establishing a more sustainable agriculture, through direct action, education and research, in partnership with public and private landowners.

Ducks Unlimited conserves, restores, and manages wetlands and associated habitats for North America's waterfowl. These habitats also benefit other wildlife and people.

The Izaak Walton League works to conserve, maintain, protect and restore the soil, forest, water and other natural resources of the United States and other lands; to promote means and opportunities for the education of the public with respect to such resources and their enjoyment and wholesome utilization.

Trout Unlimited's mission is to conserve, protect and restore North America’s trout and salmon fisheries and their watersheds.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) National Water Quality Assessment Program provides information from ecological studies on local, regional, and national scales along with biological sampling methodology.

Virginia Outdoor Foundations' purpose under law is to "promote the preservation of open space lands and to encourage private gifts of money, securities, land or other property to preserve the natural, scenic, historic, open-space and recreational areas of the Commonwealth."

The West Virginia Rivers Coalition seeks the conservation and restoration of West Virginia's rivers and streams through working with anglers and river enthusiasts.
