Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The EPA Chesapeake Bay Program Data Hub provides access to several types of data related to the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay Program databases can be queried based upon user-defined inputs such as geographic region and date range.

The Maryland Department of Planning Data Center provides census data, demographic and socio-economic profiles, and population trends and forecasts.

The Maryland Environmental Resource Land and Information Network (MERLIN) is an electronic atlas that allows a user to produce a custom "map" for any location in Maryland, including their choice of base map and theme data layers. It also allows the user to query the system to obtain information provided about specific locations.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Geographic Data Center provides access to eFACTS-Spatial, a mapping application that displays DEP permit information through an Internet Map Server. Also are links to other valuable GIS information, ranging from data to software grants.

The Pennsylvania Spatial Data Access (PASDA) provides for the widespread sharing of geospatial data, eliminates the creation of redundant data sets, and serves as a resource for locating data throughout the Commonwealth through its data storage, interactive mapping/webgis applications, and metadata/documentation efforts.

The Pennsylvania State Data Center provides census data and demographic and socio-economic information.

The Virginia Geographic Information Network facilitates the cost-effective development and use of spatial data, GIS, and related technologies in organizations throughout the Commonwealth. Site includes a Spatial Metadata Clearinghouse, a Base Mapping Program, and links to other GIS resources.

The West Virginia GIS Technical Center should provide technical support services to support the development and operation of GIS in West Virginia. Contains links to interactive maps and access to spatial information in West Virginia.

The West Virginia Interactive Mapping Center allows users to create online maps using interactive software. It contains names and coordinates for over 25,000 features in West Virginia that are found on USGS topographic maps, including place names, streams, churches, schools, and mountains.

The Chesapeake Bay and Mid-Atlantic from Space mapping project through Towson State University provides free interactive mapping software along with data layers for anywhere in the mid-Atlantic region.
